NWLA Cultural Center
5023 Langley Rd, Langley WA 98260
“Students who speak more than one language perform higher than their monolingual counterparts on tests of academic achievement, cognitive flexibility, and creativity.”
(Moran & Hakuta, 1995)
We are so pleased to announce that NWLA will be hosting an information session regarding the benefits of early exposure to foreign language, and its effect on the cognitive development of children. Parents interested in attending this free lecture and discussion are invited to RSVP no later than Wednesday, June 22nd. The evening will include light refreshments, a guest lecturer from the University of Washington, as well as a Q&A about our upcoming summer language day camps and scholarship opportunities.
This summer we are offering language camps in Japanese, Chinese, French and Spanish in two age groups: Preschooler and Parent camps for ages 2-6, and Children’s camps for ages 7-13. During each of these five-day cultural immersion programs, students explore a country’s traditions and language through lively summer camp activities including music, drama, sports, and art. Stay tuned to the blog for more information on our camps in the coming weeks, and be sure visit our website for the camp schedule.
