Save the Date! Winter on the Danube
If you missed our last sold-out Language of Food event, now’s your chance to reserve tickets for the next in the series. On December 10th, join us for a winter voyage down the “River of Time” as we explore the diverse cultures on both sides of the Danube River.
This ancient international waterway spans centuries, landscapes, and traditions as it flows from Germany’s Black Forest through Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine, and Romania before emptying into the Black Sea.
Take a historical voyage down the Danube with a gallery from Life magazine.
The Danube has traditionally been a border zone between East from West: a barrier between the Roman Empire and the Gothic, Hun, and Slavic tribes, between the Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman Empires, and between the European Union and the closed world of the former Soviet republics.
For our next Language of Food, we will explore music, food, and traditions from both sides of the Danube – imagining ways that the river might serve to unite rather than divide the diverse cultures on both of its banks.
