Japanese Horticulture Event Photos and Thank Yous!

We could not have hoped for a more glorious day for this past weekend’s Japanese Horticulture Workshop and Luncheon. The skies were clear, the sun was out, and faces were shining. We had a wonderful turnout, with the workshop at capacity and a great group of volunteers.

Our hosts, Norm and Danielle Bodine were incredibly gracious as they welcomed us all to their lovely home and beautiful gardens.

Masa Mizuno and his assistant, Mark, captivated the group from the start with their expert demonstrations and revelations of Japanese gardening techniques.

The Bodine Gardens were the ideal setting for this workshop, enabling participants to roam the winding paths and bamboo corridors of a mature Japanese garden.

We even had a surprise visitor! This sleepy owl quietly listened in to Mizuno-san’s pruning lecture.

Our wonderful volunteers outdid themselves for this event, presenting participants with a delicious and authentic Japanese luncheon.

This was truly an incredible event and we are so happy Masa Mizuno honored us with his return to Whidbey Island. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mizuno-san, his assistant Mark, Norm and Danielle Bodine, Lynn Geri, Ako Shimozato, Linda, Jackie, Miles, and Claire for all their time, energy and hard work. Thank you!
