“Language is the roadmap of a culture. It tells you where its people come from and where they are going.” – Rita Mae Brown
NWLACC has offered adult language students a roadmap to culture since 1981. Our approach emphasizes conversation, vocabulary-building, and pronunciation, with enough grammar to provide a firm foundation for conversational speech. Rather than having you memorize or mentally translate phrases, we teach patterns of conversation that you can apply to real-life communication. Small groups, averaging eight students at most, allow for ample individual attention and a supportive learning environment.
Instructors are native-speakers or the equivalent, who bring both linguistic and cultural expertise to their work. While each class is tailored to the needs of the group, all classes include cultural orientation and practical tips for foreign travel and business. NWLACC offers quarterly sessions of 10-12 weekly classes as well as accelerated sessions of 5 twice-weekly classes. Classes are typically 1½ hours in duration. Custom programs for corporate groups, families, and private lessons may also be arranged upon request.
