Join Tessa Hays Nordeen and friends for an intercultural wine and poetry experience to celebrate the art and culture of Mexico, North America and Iran. Enjoy the nuance of language and aromas of wine across cultures to build connections and take down walls of ignorance.
We will read the poetry of Pedro Salinas, Forugh Farrokhzad, Maya Angelou, Mary Oliver, both in English and Spanish, discuss their translations, share interpretations, with wine in hand to help free our tongues. Video projections and music will complement this unique and enjoyable evening.
By donation. Space is limited. Please RSVP to [email protected]
Tessa Hays-Nordin was born and raised on Whidbey Island. One of the early NWLACC French students and French Camp teaching assistants, Tessa lived in Paris France for 9 years where she studied and worked in the performing arts. For the last three years Tessa has been living and working in Medellin Colombia with dance, theater and now language. Now back in her hometown, she is excited to share the work she has been doing with physical movement, memory and language with our Island community. She is looking forward to continue having the cultural dialogues and sharing the artistic appreciation that connect us across borders, generates deeper understanding for life, and feed our imagination. NWLACC is pleased to collaborate with Tessa on upcoming workshops, classes and events.
