The body as architecture is a series of movement workshops using physical acting and dance techniques such as: LeCoq. Grotowski, and contemporary dance. These classes are designed to generate awareness in the body, through movement in space and to build memory for learning language.
For this workshop, I am offering a short trial-class, in two versions, one taught in French and the other in Spanish. We will explore the elements of language through movement. If you are interested in exploring movement and practicing your French or Spanish, please come on out!
Bio- Tessa Hays-Nordin, born and raised on the island, is recently back for a visit after having lived 9 years in Paris, France, and the last three in Medellin, Columbia. In Paris, she studied at the International School of Physical Acting Jacques LeCroq and obtained her master’s in philosophy and esthetic within the performance arts at Paris 8. In Medellin, Columbia, she has been living and working with the Modern Art Museum, various cultural centers and the National University. She has been teaching acting, movement, and language with her own new methods. These methods question and challenge post-colonial concepts and values around teaching, learning, confidence and power. She is looking forward to sharing the work and tools she has been developing while continuing to integrate language with the body.
