Join us to celebrate and welcome the Dance of Hope youth from Uganda.
You’re invited to an international potluck, bonfire, sharing of music and dance!
Hosted by NWLACC in Langley, where the troupe will be staying during their first week on Whidbey.
Bring a dish to share, your drums, instruments, dancing feet &check-book and get ready to receive and share fun and loving energy from Uganda.
Ranging in ages from 11-17 the DANCE OF HOPE youth (most of whom were mentored by Kinobe in Ugandan orphanages and refugee camps) bring their electrifying energy and primal transforming power of music and dance to the stage in interactive programs that transports audiences through a history of Africa that aims to break down misconceptions about the continent and its people.
This is their first time on tour in the US, and we are thrilled to have them visit our community.
Come meet these talented kids and their inspired mentors at this special, family friendly, community gathering.
This donation-based event is a kick-off to the activities and performance that the DOH Youth Group will be sharing with Whidbey Island School Groups during their time here.
Mark your calendars for March 9, a special performance at the SWHS Auditorium with the SWHS Jazz band, sponsored by Whidbey Island Center for the Arts https://www.wicaonline.org
