Chinese New Year at NWLA
The Chinese Lunar New Year begins on January 23rd this year, with the traditional two-week celebration lasting through February 6th’s Lantern Festival. The year 2012 marks the 4710th consecutive New Year in the Chinese Calendar–the Year of the Dragon, according to the Chinese zodiac. Losar, the Tibetan Lunar New Year, will begin February 22nd.
On Wednesday, January 25th from 5:00-6:00pm, NWLA will host DaiRin-San, the head monk at Tahoma One Drop Zen Center, who will lead a brief ceremony and blessing for the Lunar New Year along with others from the Zen Buddhist Community. There will be an opportunity for private incense offerings as well as a blessing circle for NWLA and the greater community. Tea and sweets will be shared after the ceremony.
All faiths and nationalities welcome.
